All-on-4 vs Fix-on-Six
In this video, Dr. Lilian Jaime explains a key difference between two full-arch implant options that can significantly affect treatment time and long-term stability.
All-on-4 uses four traditional dental implants placed into the jawbone. After those implants heal, a permanent bridge is attached on top.
In our office, we use a different approach called Fixed-On-6. Instead of four larger implants, we place six smaller-diameter implants. Because the implants are narrower, we add two extra implants to provide the same level of strength and stability. A permanent bridge is then cemented over these implants, making it a long-term solution.
Placing the six small-diameter implants typically takes about 15 minutes. After placement, the permanent bridge is usually ready in about three weeks.
With traditional All-on-4 treatment, the process takes much longer. Patients usually need to wait four to six months for the bone to heal before the final bridge can be placed.
The biggest difference between these options is timing. Fixed-On-6 significantly reduces the waiting period, allowing patients to return to normal function much sooner.
