The Dental Crown Process

In this video, Dr. Lilian Jaime explains the step-by-step process of getting a dental crown and what to expect between visits.

The process for getting a crown starts with an exam. During this visit, we take an X-ray and intraoral photos to evaluate the tooth. We then review the cost of the crown and, if applicable, check your insurance benefits.

If you decide to move forward, we numb the tooth and prepare it by shaping it so the permanent crown will fit properly. A temporary crown is placed to protect the tooth while the final crown is being made.

After about two weeks, you return to the office, and we permanently cement the crown in place.
