What Is a Dental Bridge?
In this video, Dr. Lilian Jaime explains how a dental bridge replaces missing teeth and when it may be the right solution.
A dental bridge is a group of connected crowns used to replace a missing tooth. When only one tooth is missing, we typically use the two neighboring teeth for support.
Those adjacent teeth are carefully prepared, and a custom bridge is made by the dental lab. The bridge includes a replacement tooth in the middle, with crowns on each side. Once completed, it is permanently cemented onto the prepared teeth.
This type of restoration is often called a three-unit bridge. Another option for replacing a missing tooth is a dental implant. Dental bridges have been used successfully for many years and are a reliable and effective treatment option.
