The Benefits of Implant Dentures
In this video, Dr. Lilian Jaime explains why implant dentures address problems that conventional dentures cannot solve.
With a traditional denture, the pressure from the acrylic resting on the jawbone can cause the bone to shrink over time. On average, the jawbone can lose about 3% of its volume each year in areas where teeth are missing. As the bone shrinks, the denture gradually becomes looser and less stable.
Placing implants helps address this problem. Implants stimulate the bone and help slow or prevent further bone loss, while also providing the support needed to keep the denture securely in place.
Over time, simply replacing a conventional denture does not address bone loss or looseness. To maintain stability and protect the jawbone, something needs to support the bone directly. Mini dental implants are one effective solution for preserving bone and improving denture retention.
